People in Property: Celebrating Lan’s 5 Years at Savills

People in Property is a Q&A series exploring the stories behind Savills talented individuals and their passions. In our first series article, we spoke to Tran Thi Ngoc Lan, our Training Manager within our Ha Noi Property Management Department. Lan spoke to us about her five-year journey with Savills, valuable lessons she has learnt, and her vision for the property management.

At Savills, our people drive our success. A fundamental aspect of our success is that we believe in our  talented  individuals  and  provide  them  the  space  to  work  creatively  and  discover  optimal solutions. 1. How long have you been with Savills?

2024 marks my fifth year at Savills. I started as the Training Manager in the Property Management Department at Savills Ha Noi in May 2019.

2. Why are you interested in real estate?

Real estate is one of the crucial industries for Viet Nam’s economy. In the past, there were not many skyscrapers, and property management was not a known profession in Viet Nam. While this field is expanding rapidly in Viet Nam, we still do not have too many universities offering education in the field.

I was extremely excited when I received the offer letter to work as Savills Property Management Training Manager. It was a chance to join this promising industry and inspire and impart the necessary knowledge and skills to newcomers in this field.

3. What are the important aspects of a career in real estate?

Every industry has its challenges. Real estate is continuously developing, and real estate projects in Viet Nam increasingly align with global standards. I believe the most important thing for personnel working at a real estate consultancy and services company like Savills is constantly updating, innovating, and improving themselves to meet the demands of even the most discerning clients. Quick and flexible adaptation is also essential.

4. What motivates you to stay with Savills?

The working culture is what I like most about Savills. Influenced by the UK, Savills always values openness, honesty, and responsibility. All employees are encouraged to be creative and proactive, and to complete all assigned tasks efficiently. I find that Savills culture does not restrict individual expression, and we are always aware that individual success is closely linked to the team's success. Parties and celebrations are also regularly organised on special occasions, helping employees relax and connect after work hours.

5. What do you like most about your job?

The general principles for a trainer are perseverance and determination. Additionally, the training job requires a deep understanding of the industry and grasping the needs of the trainees to innovate and adapt the training programs accordingly continuously.

Moreover, I can interact with many young employees at Savills through internal training sessions. I am pleased that my work brings valuable knowledge and skills to them and inspires them to recognise the significance of their roles.

6. What advise do you have for those looking for a career in property management?

Savills is a leading company in property management, with over 8 million square metres of projects under our management in Viet Nam. With a team of top experts experienced in the field, I am confident that young people or those looking to switch careers will receive valuable advice and knowledge if they want to join Savills. The company is certainly a wonderful working environment where you are cared for, helped, and trained to develop every day.
